Yet another iPod Nano Video (3G) unboxing gallery

Last Tuesday, for my birthday, 11th September, I received a gift from my wife: the new iPod Nano Video (3G) Red. Less then a week after it has been presented to the World by Steve Jobs. So, even if not very .NET related, I wanted to post here the first impressions and some picture.     Just a little bad experience: the gift message was printed only on the shipping notice, and the cardboard shipping box was still shaped to hold the old iPod Nano 2G (tall and thin). As usual, iTunes display the exact model and color of the connected device....

New Nike + iPod interface

Yesterday Steve Jobs announced the new version of the iPods (new colors for the Shuffle, 3G Nano "fatty", iPod "classic", iPod Touch). There are a lot of posts about this, so I'm not going to increase the echo chamber effect. Just want to focus on one think that is very important to me: the Nike+ sport kit. Steve Jobs itself announced during the keynote that the new iPod Nano is compatible with the current version of the Nike+ Sport Kit, and the product page on Apple site reflects this, and provides some images of the new Nike+ UI (Thanks to...

New iPods on the way

There has been a lot of speculation in the last month after some mock-ups and UI video of the new iPods leaked. Today many sources reported that Apple will be holding an event on September 5th to present some innovations to their digital music players lineup. The invitation features a cover flow style front with the foremost album cover containing a silhouette iTunes dance holding an iPod (and the other album cover being Beatles' albums). Speculations say that Apple is going to announce OS X based iPods, probably an iPod Nano 3G with a new form factor (here a mock-up),...

Four life changing gadgets

Scott Hanselman started this "meme" a few days ago, then Nic jumped in, so why not joining and tell you my 4 life changing gadgets? They both agree on GPS, iPod and DVR being their life changing gadgets: I don't have a TV (nor a DVR), and only watch movies or a few TV series, and I use GPS only when going trekking or doing mountaineering, so I cannot say that a DVR and the GPS are among my life changing gadgets. Cellphone: a friend of mine in Italy wrote a post about why the cellphone changed his life...

The best way to spend the lunch break: running with your iPod

Wellington waterfront is so beautiful and relaxing that you cannot avoid spending most of your spare time wandering along the promenade that surround all the Lambton Harbour. So, when it's not raining or the wind is under 20 knots I spend my lunch break running from my office till the end of Oriental Parade and return. I think that running is the best way to spend your lunch break: you get fit, you eat less, you have a "real" break from your work stuff and you enjoy the warmest hours of the day outdoor. And now that the sunset is at 5pm, it's...

Running with an iPod

Everybody is speaking about the 100 millionth iPod sold, so no point repeating the same thing again and again. I decided to keep my Apple/iPod posts to less than one per week. So, for this week, I want to talk about the best (in my opinion) iPod accessory: the Nike+ running kit. It is made up by and accelerometer/transmitter that sits in (or on) your shoes, and a receiver that fits into the iPod dock connector, processes the data received from the sensor, and drives the iPod display showing the current speed, distance and other useful information about your current...
